Mates of State

Kori Gardner and Jason Hammel are a married couple who have managed to stay together and form the amazing band Mates of State.

In 2006 Mates of State released the the great album Bring it Back which, miraciously, managed to have one of the creepiest album covers I have seen.

Oh and it also has some of the best harmonies I've ever heard.

Well this summer the duo will be back, after two years of silence, with Crushes (The Covers Mixtape)

Now some of these songs I can understand why the band would choose to cover, such as Death Cab and Girls, but others I just am unsure so to how they will sound, such as Tom Waits. Still I have faith and it will be interesting to see how the Mars Volta will be transformed into indie pop.
